    Description

    Calcite "Flower"
    Wenshan Mine, Wenshan City
    Wenshan, Yunnan
    China

This massive plate of Calcite has the obvious appearance of a "flower" with an amazing pattern radiating from its core. The floral form is attached to a matrix of rich, caramel color material which also contains a pair of well-formed triangular crystals. Completely natural, the mineral is free from damage and without any repairs. The unique form 'tells a story' as different stages of the Calcite crystallization occurring over long periods of time as the water levels rose and fell in the Karst Terrain caverns. Presented on a custom engraved acrylic base, this pristine example was acquired in the mid-2010s. The glassy floral shape itself is rather large measuring 8 inches (20 cm) at maximum diameter. Its core is a caramel hue like its matrix.
    Measurements: 11.42 x 9.25 x 2.76 inches (29.00 x 23.50 x 7.00 cm)

    Provenance: Ex. Robert Lavinsky Collection
