    Beryl var. Aquamarine
    Minas Gerais, Brazil

"A sharp, transparent gemmy blue aquamarine crystal over a foot long and about an inch thick. There are a lot of big aqua crystals in the world, but perhaps this one has the longest aspect ratio. Bought this specimen from Kaleale in Teofilo Otoni. The scale under the specimen is an inch whth [sic] a rule at one cm."
    - Rock H. Currier

About the time that you think you've seen it all, something like this pops up and reminds you that: No, You Haven't! Some of those teeny little 'toothpick' Aquas may have higher Aspect Ratios, but Rock was probably right in regard to any big ones. This one seems to display a 13.4/1 Aspect Ratio - rather atypical, wouldn't you say? In addition, it also just happens to be gemmy with fine blue color and good luster ... and terminated to boot. There is a custom labeled acrylic base for good measure.
    Overall Measurements: 13.4 x 1.4 x 1.0 inches (34.0 x 3.5 x 2.5 cm)
    Offered at no reserve

Provenance: Bought from Kaleale [RHC #5426, acquired 1989]
