    Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca
    Santa Cruz Municipality, Sonora

The secondary copper mineral Azurite is extremely popular among collectors and prized in general for its intense blue coloration. Examples from the famous Milpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico have captivated the world for years due to the intensity of the dark azure hue featured by these coveted specimens. This top-example was collected during the heyday of production between 2010 and 2012. Unfortunately, Azurite production has nearly stopped, and specimens like this one are not coming out. Broad, tabular blades of deep blue tend to characterize pieces from this seminal location. This dramatic Azurite features an unusual vertical crystal formation with a pleasing stark isolation, whereas normally the crystals are clustered together. The V-shaped grouping features two dynamic crystals with the larger crystal measuring 1.92 inches (4.88 cm) in length. This delightful specimen is replete with lustrous, striated crystals with a mirror finish and electric blue hue. The cabinet sized specimen displays nice contrast of the blue Azurite crystals towering out of a gray rocky matrix. The bottom section features other large Azurite crystals with patches of velvety green Malachite. This magnificent mineral is out of a private collection, has no repairs and comes with an engraved custom acrylic base. This classic example should not be overlooked.
    Measurements: 4.75 x 4.20 x 2.63 inches (12.07 x 10.68 x 6.67 cm)
