Hongda Mine, Xiaoqinggou Ag-Mn deposit, Lingqiu Co.
    Datong Prefecture, Shanxi Province

This metallic wonder represents the uncommon mineral Acanthite, which has been coming out of China in large number but not in examples of this quality. Featuring some of the biggest and best crystals ever seen, the specimen is from the "old" finds, circa 2005-2010. Provenance from the Dr. Steve Smale Collection adds to the significance of this piece, which is presented on a custom engraved acrylic base. This superb mineral features massive crystals and broad faces with a saturated dull gray coloration, attesting to the metallic nature of this material. The complex shape of the Silver sulfide is naturally artistic with a blocky interconnected mass of crystals of various size solidly locked in a progressive latticework structure. With a length of 3 inches (7.6 cm), this small cabinet piece will definitely get noticed in any display case.
    Measurements: 3.06 x 2.25 x 1.48 inches (7.76 x 5.71 x 3.76 cm)

    Provenance: Ex. Steve Smale Collection
