Group of Three Signed Books

This grouping of three books is a bit of an unconnected assemblage but does offer an impressive variety of topics. A signed hardcover copy of Fossils Inside Out by Thomas Wiewandt leads the pack and was an important and popular volume at the Tucson Show in recent years. The pocket postcard book signed by author Thomas Wiewandt included in the trio is Ancient Sea Creatures, replete with numerous full-color photographs as well as useful information on many marine fossils. The final entry is a signed hardcover book, The Sting of the Wild, by the late Justin O. Schmidt, provided for the AAPS auction by his widow.

Fossils Inside Out is suitable for both scientists and non-scientists alike, offering a synthesis of various sciences covering the past, present, and future of life on Earth and chapters about fossil collecting and imaging technologies, as well as fossil preparation. The book is filled with photos, paintings, and maps. The legendary American Museum of Natural History Paleontologist Mark Norell penned the foreword.

Ancient Sea Creatures is a softcover consisting of a perfect bound collection of 21 proper postcards to keep or share. In addition to a diverse assortment covering trilobites, ammonites, crinoids, and more, the work is full of natural history notes. Acclaimed Paleontologist Peter Larson wrote the introduction.

The Sting of the Wild is by the colorful Entomologist Dr. Justin O. Schmidt, the man who "got stung for science," and even includes the intriguing Schmidt Sting Pain Index published in this book for the first time. Dr. Schmidt has created a work that is sure to fire the imagination of anyone with a love of bugs.
