    Description

    TOURMALINE with FELDSPAR & ALBITE
Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan

A number of localities now boast of having "Blue Cap" Tourmalines among their 'graduates.' Paprok is one of the locations that is now part of that club, having produced wonders such as this specimen consisting of a single prism 1.18 inches (3.0 cm) high by 0.59 inches (1.5 cm) across showing a uniform pale pink coloration and gemmy transparency coupled with a thin, medium to dark blue terminal area. The crystal is quite gemmy, and the blue color is rather striking in its contrast to the pink, particularly when lit from above. The matrix is a blocky white Feldspar mass with a spotty overcoat of white Cleavelandite and sparkling Muscovite. The overall condition is excellent to pristine.
    Overall measurements: 2.9 x 2.3 x 2.4 inches (7.4 x 5.9 x 6 cm)
