    PAPAGOITE in QUARTZ
    #5 Shaft, Messina Mine, Messina, Limpopo Prov., South Africa

    Although there seems to be a hard & fast line between mineral specimens and "lapidary objects," that line isn't as hard and fast as one would think. A fine example of that ambiguity can be seen in the colorfully included Quartz crystals from Messina. As found, the outer Quartz layer tends to be rough and cloudy. It is only after grinding away these surface layers and polishing the piece that the true beauty of the inclusions becomes visible. Bright blue sprays of delicate Papagoite needles are frozen inside the polished faces of this Quartz crystal. Papagoite is a rare Copper mineral found only in a few places on the planet. All faces on this exceptional specimen have been polished to greatly improve visibility of the Papagoite. It is in excellent condition.
    Overall measurements: 2.37 x 1.5 inches (6.0 x 3.75 cm). Offered at no reserve.
