    Description

    Enargite with Baryte
Leonard Mine, Butte District (Summit Valley District)
    Silver Bow County
    Montana, USA
    2.5 x 1.75 x 1.25 inches (6.35 x 4.45 x 3.18 cm)

The Leonard Mine was the source of this fine example of Enargite (Cu3AsS4). It was one of the many underground mines that were engulfed by the expanding Berkeley Pit and are now gone. This choice Enargite specimen displays brilliantly lustrous black prisms with flat terminations and heavily striated sides, accompanied by two colorless Barytes of rhombic form, with several small, but perfect, Quartz crystals springing from its massive sulfide matrix. This fine specimen, from the now defunct locality, is pristine, with no visible damage. This example is truly a mineral collector's mineral from a key locality.
