    Sharon Stone Pocket, 2000
Pederneira Mine, São José da Safira, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Perhaps it was the isolation of silent, dark places deep underground. Perhaps it was a lurid photo of the "page three" type. Perhaps the dark humor and in-your-face feistiness of the actress appealed to the no-nonsense types that dig Tourmaline in this part of Brazil. Who knows? Whatever the motivation, Sharon Stone can rest easy knowing that her place in history is a little bit more substantial having the contents of a gem pocket named after her in 2000. All of the contents of that pocket were somewhat alike in displaying an icy blue interior fading to faint green and peach before ending with bright pink tips on all of the major components of the crystal groups. All crystals are striated on prism faces, and glassy luster is the norm for any of the six or so major crystals making up the aggregate. The longest prism, which is slightly "bent," measures 3.5 x 0.39 inches (8.9 cm x 1.0 cm) and is possibly doubly-terminated, with one end dusted with tiny Quartz crystals and sporting a thin blue-black layer on top of the usual dark red one. Two others certainly are doubly-terminated. There is no matrix, and, except for traces of the usual repairs, the specimen is in excellent to pristine condition.
    Overall measurements: 3.5 x 1.1 inches (8.9 x 2.9 cm)
