DescriptionDioptase & Wulfenite
Mammoth-St Anthony Mine, St. Anthony Deposit, Tiger, Mammoth District, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA
"A number of sparkling green balls to about a cm growing on a pale blue matrix with a few bladed orange wulfenites and some micro dioptase crystals. I got this specimen from Jack Streeter when he sold me his best Tiger things in 1972 for $500. Jack was a traveling salesman he was able to visit the Tiger mine in the early days and was able to buy some good specimens from the miners."
- Rock H. Currier
The striking nickel-green against bright orange color combination of this Tiger specimen immediately grabs the eye and won't let go. Tiger is one of the few places on the planet where this pairing appears: Africa being the other. Tiger examples can be easily differentiated by the tendency of the Dioptase to form globular clusters instead of discrete crystals. This exceptional specimen has a custom acrylic base.
