Description

Descloizite
Berg Aukas Mine, Grootfontein, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia

"A 6.5 cm cluster of flattened brown prismatic crystals to about 4 cm. They are translucent when held to a strong light. Small calcite crystals are found in some places on the back of the specimen. Bought the specimen
from Clive Queit in Tsumeb."
- Rock H. Currier

Berg Aukas is a criminally underrated locality. Overshadowed by nearby Tsumeb, this Namibian mine has produced some of the finest Descloizite specimens ever discovered. Where else can you find Descloizite that you would be actually willing to display? In nearly every other corner of the globe, this species is limited to a brown crust that collectors actively attempt to remove from their specimens. For additional fun, shine a flashlight behind this specimen to reveal a hidden burst of color. Rock was rather fond of these and kept a few flats of choice Descloizites.
It comes with a custom acrylic base.
