Description
CERUSSITETsumeb Mine (Tsumcorp Mine), Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region (Oshikoto), Namibia
The propensity of Cerussite to form twinned crystal groups reaches its ultimate expression in the "snowflake" habit displayed to a wonderful degree by this specimen. With the exception of a small area of matrix on the back of the piece, it is clear that the crystal group grew in an open space large enough to allow it to reach its full aesthetic potential. Thick, translucent blades arranged in a radiating pattern have resulted in a 'wheel' of considerable mass and perfection. Luster is the vitreous sort seen in better cyclic twin Cerussites. This aesthetic mineral classic is in excellent to pristine condition.
Overall Measurements: 3.5 x 2.25 x 1.5 inches (8.89 x 5.72 x 3.81 cm)
Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Russell Behnke, ex. Jim's Gems, ex. Mineral Kingdom, ex. Collectanea Mineralis Poberiana [Hoppel #D0022]
