    Bustamite
    North Mine (North Broken Hill Mine; NBH Mine)
    Broken Hill, Yancowinna County
    New South Wales, Australia
    3.5 x 2 x 2 inches (8.9 x 5.1 x 5.1 cm)

    This Bustamite may not make the 'A' list for aesthetics, but it is a large, terminated example of this rarely crystallized Calcium Manganese Silicate. At 2.6 inches (6.7 cm), the main crystal is a sizable one, and the termination shows some transparency. There is a small amount of Galena near the bottom of the piece and an off-white patch, of what appears to be Calcite, on the specimen which is in good condition. This was once in the "Bancroft Collection" of UCSB, #6962 - matching the accession number on the bottom.
