    Kalahari manganese field
    Northern Cape Province
    South Africa
    3.85 x 2.92 x 2.60 inches (9.78 x 7.41 x 6.60 cm)

    This silicate mineral is quite striking as silvery-gray shiny crystals of Braunite of various size are clustered on this reddish-brown irregular block of Andradite Garnet matrix. It also happens to be from the Kalahari Manganese Field in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. This example hails from N'Chwaning, so collectors should find it quite tempting. The odd-shaped piece is quite solid and dense and rather heavy.
