    Description

    ARAGONITE
    Tazouta, Sefrou, Sefrou Province
    Fès-Boulemane Region
    Morocco
    3.02 x 2.18 x 2.06 inches (7.69 x 5.56 x 5.24 cm)

Typically occurring as clusters of crystals, Aragonite is one of the two common, naturally-occurring forms of calcium carbonate which is the primary component of seashells. For a smaller specimen, this piece is full of large, tubular crystals that appear to be shooting out from the core of the mineral. The coloration of the piece is very rich and is more rust red than orange making it quite a bit different in color than the majority of commercial specimens so often seen for sale in huge quantities. This one is good all around.
