    Description

    Native Copper with Silver
New Cornelia Mine (Ajo Mine), Ajo
Little Ajo Mts, Ajo Mining District, Pima Co.
    Arizona, USA

The Ajo Mining District had the first open pit Copper mine in Arizona which opened over 100 years ago. Also known as the New Cornelia, the Ajo Mine has produced a lot of Copper with Silver and Gold as the byproducts of the mining operations. This robust crystalline example of Copper displays a complex and dimensional primary surface featuring both light and dark hues as well as a contrasting backside which boasts a platy, layered and vibrant aspect to its metallic form. This collector specimen from the historic locality looks a bit like something from yesteryear, with a naturally rustic nature that results in a rather visually compelling mineral. Minor secondary remnant Silver can be seen amid the mass of old Copper.
    Overall Measurements: 5.15 x 3.00 x 1.35 inches (13.07 x 7.61 x 3.42 cm), weighs 526 grams

It would indeed have been much simpler to work with a local auction house, and we had local options. But we never once regretted going with Heritage.
