    Description

    NATIVE COPPER
Quincy Mine, Hancock, Houghton Co., Michigan, USA

This is a positively HUGE branching mass of Native Copper crystals, measuring an impressive 18 inches (45.5 cm) in length, from the Quincy Mine. It has single crystals up to 2.25 inches (5.75 cm) long. This "diminutive" mass shows great patina under the lacquer coating and there is a minor amount of country rock adhering in spots to the Copper. It is actually uncommon to actually have a mine provenance of Michigan Native Copper specimens - so it is an added bonus that the records have been maintained with a specimen. This formidable Native Copper specimen is in excellent condition.
    Overall measurements: 18 x 3.75 x 7.88 inches high (45.5 x 9.5 x 20 cm high). Offered at no reserve.

Provenance: David Crawford [Hoppel Catalog # D2000]

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
