Calcite on Amethyst

The Calcite crystals on this specimen are large and unusually well-formed, with the longest one reaching a whopping 14 cm (5.5 inches) from tip-to-tip. The terminations have faces that look almost faceted and gemstone-like. These Calcites also have a frosted appearance, which lends to the specimen a degree of sophistication and contrast. The Amethyst matrix, in juxtaposition, has a rounded form, almost soft looking. Every inch is covered in hundreds of tiny crystal tips, all of which coming together to create a beautiful glittering effect, and texture that contrasts very well against the smooth, large Calcite crystals. The condition is excellent, with the exception of some slight bruising on the topmost Calcite.
