This single crystal of Elbaite has an especially deep color (while retaining its transparency), a nice ghostly blue that is seen from time to time in Pederneira specimens. Running upward, through the center and stopping just before the peak of the Elbaite is a subtle pink zone that is especially visible with backlighting. Capping the specimen is a dark, almost opaque, zone of rich purple-violet. A classic combination amongst Pederneira Elbaites, this piece is joined by associations of lepidolite and bright white cleavelandite. Interestingly enough, the Cleavelandite has grown epitaxially from crevices along the side faces of the Elbaite.
