Description
SUOLUNITEBlack Lake Mine, Thetford, Quebec, Canada
Originally thought to be Prehnite, Suolunite from Thetford is a lot more rare than Prehnite. All of the better Suolunite specimens came from one find in the 1990's. All of the blue material, such as this one, came from that find. In appearance, it does look just like a blue version of Prehnite, forming gray-blue globular aggregates of small crystals arranged in a swirling pattern and bearing the same sort of matte luster seen on many Prehnites. The largest crystal 'globe' measures 1.44 inches (3.6 cm) and the condition is excellent.
Overall measurements: 1.88 x 1.75 x 1.5 inches (4.83 x 4.49 x 3.8 cm). Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Victor Yount [Hoppel Catalog # D2191]
[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
