    Description

    NEPTUNITE with BENITOITE
Dallas Gem Mine (Benitoite Mine; Benitoite Gem Mine; Gem Mine), New Idria District, Diablo Range, San Benito County, California, USA

Neptunite is a rare Titanium mineral that comes from several places on the planet. Fine mineral collectors cheerfully ignore all but one of them - the Dallas Gem Mine in San Benito County, where dark, reddish brown prisms of this mineral reach astounding size and perfection. This 'toenail' specimen features a sizable 1.02 inches (2.6 cm) black crystal with bright luster, partially embedded in the typical white Natrolite vein matter these things grew within. It is accompanied by a trio of Benitoite crystals of colorless to blue coloration. The condition of the Neptunite is excellent, but the Benitoites are incomplete due to peripheral breakage. As always, the Benitoite is fluorescent under SW UV. There is second label with no information as to whose collection it may have graced.
    Overall Measurements: 1.5 x 1.0 x 0.75 inches (3.81 x 2.54 x 1.91 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.

    Provenance: Western Minerals [Hoppel #D0296]
