Colorado Quartz Mine, Mariposa Co., California
This smaller crystalline Gold from California's Colorado Quartz Mine offers something a bit different compared to other specimens from this locality. To begin with there are two trigonal 'hopper' type crystals occupying one edge of the piece. The larger measures 11 mm on one edge and the smaller measuring in at 7.5 mm. In addition, there are several 'casts': multi-planar areas where euhedral Quartz crystals used to be. The luster of the piece ranges from bright, particularly where the Quartz crystals formerly were, to hackly on some surfaces.
Overall measurements: 1.74 x 1.25 x 1.25 inches (4.4 x 3.2 x 3.2 cm). Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: C. Rich Carter [Hoppel Catalog # D1889]
[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
