Description
Corundum var. RubyJegdalek ruby deposit, Surobi District, Kabul, Afghanistan
4.2 x 3.5 x 2.3 cm (1.7 x 1.4 x 0.9 in)
Here is a very aesthetically arranged Afghani specimen that features multiple sharp and incredibly colorful magenta-red crystals of Ruby ensconced in a resplendent, white marble matrix. Acting as the obvious focal point to the specimen are two sizable pseudo-octahedral Ruby crystals that are tightly intergrown (measuring 1.6 x 1.4 centimeters together) and perched at the pinnacle of the specimen. When viewed under UV light, each of the Ruby crystals will strongly fluoresce a fiery red hue.
