Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Mun. de Mapimí, Durango, Mexico

Some of the minerals found in the Ojuela Mine are so rare, that in the case of Lotharmeyerite, there is but one other locality for it. Here it is as sprinklings of tiny dark, sub-millimeter spheres on a few of the many crystal faces of colorless and purple Adamite. The Adamite has an elongated (up to 1 inch) crystal habit with wedge shaped terminations and the delightful light purple color. The purple Adamite comes from a find made years ago, when the water levels in the mine dropped sufficiently for miners to work the area temporarily for specimens. Such specimens were, and are, valued quite highly due to the very limited number of pieces recovered with this rare type of coloration.
Overall measurements: 1.75 x 1.75 x 1.5 inches (4.4 x 4.4 x 3.8 cm).
