MASSIVE CRYSTAL GOLD

Massive is not a word normally associated with finely crystallized Gold specimens. Nuggets are robust and massive. Crystals are delicate. Not so here. This mass is composed of thousands of Spinel twinned Gold crystals. It has not been etched as can be determined by a look at the attached small bit of matrix rock: This is how it came from the mine. The color is a rich yellow, very characteristic of the high-Karat Golds found here. It weighs a whopping 440 grams- unbelievable for a crystal specimen. That is 14.14 Troy Ounces. It measures 3 ½ inches by 2 ½ inches by 1 3/8 inches. Not a wimpy gold specimen.
