Description
Gold NuggetNorth Fork Mining District, Salmon Mountains
Klamath Mountains, Trinity County
California, USA
California is certainly well-known for its famous Gold Rush that began back in 1848, which led to flocking by the "forty-niners" in 1849 and culminated in the territory becoming a state in 1850, so Gold out of the aptly nicknamed Golden State is - and has long been - popular among collectors. This solid, brassy, and bulbous sample found near the North Fork of the American River boasts a total weight of just over 5 troy ounces and is supremely dimensional with excellent color, luster, and "rounded" textures. The piece rests securely on its own without need of a base and is visually striking from all angles. Representing a most "classic" way to own a piece of Gold from California, this specimen looks like a historical example from bygone days. The clean-looking mass exhibits an internal Quartz matrix with a subtle reddish staining. This is an ideal hand or pocket piece, but it deserves to be displayed.
Measurements: 1.69 x 1.34 x 1.13 inches (4.30 x 3.40 x 2.88 cm), 155.89 grams
