Gold Nugget
Jumper Mine (Jumper & Bear; Jumper claim; Cold Springs claim [Bear claim])
Bear Valley, Bagby-Mariposa-Mount Bullion-Whitlock Mining District
Mariposa County, California, USA

Spectacular and magnificent are just several of any multitude of superlative terms that would aptly describe this amazing historical Gold nugget from the heart of California's Mother Lode Country, which was the famed location where settler James Marshall's discovery of placer Gold at Sutter's Mill precipitated the California Gold Rush. One of THE biggest Gold nuggets to come out of Mariposa County in a long time, this rare example out of the Jumper Mine weighs 10.5 troy ounces, and this product of the Bagby Mining District has lots of character. The "Jumper" nugget was found close to the source, approximately 18 inches below the surface, and never made it to the waterway. This locality produced numerous higher-grade pockets; in 1920, that mine yielded 621 troy ounces of the precious metal from 42 tons of ore. The extremely sizable offering boasts a mountainous and organic shape. The golden-yellowish form exhibits an intricate and complex texture and highly dimensional shape. A testament to the storied and legendary past of the region that fostered explosive growth resulting in hastened statehood for The Golden State, this exquisite find represents a true opportunity for an acquisition of a bona fide treasure of the highest order, which inherently ties the past to the present.
Measurements: 2.79 x 1.76 x 1.22 inches (7.09 x 4.47 x 3.11 cm), weighs 323.6 grams (10.4 oz t)
