Crystallized "Leaf" Gold
Coe Mines (Hankins; Roberts; Coe vein)
Grass Valley, Grass Valley Mining District, Nevada Co.
Presented on a custom, engraved acrylic base, this Crystallized "Leaf" Gold specimen features incredible yellowish coloration, numerous foil-like surfaces, multiple holes, good size, and high visual aesthetics. An impressive piece on all counts, this stunner was once part of the collection of legendary Mexican mineral collector Senator Dr. Miguel Romero Sanchez and was also "on loan" to the Houston Museum of Natural Science in 1996, known for its world-renowned displays of Fine Minerals. The Gold weighs 183 grams (5.88 oz t), although the value of this example, of course, is exponentially more than its Gold content. This is a true classic and one of THE best California Golds likely to be seen anywhere. The somewhat delicate-looking mineral is actually rather solid and durable. The incredible Gold "leaves" that make up virtually the entirety of this mineral are stunning and nothing short of completely amazing. The antique specimen has never been offered for public sale, making this a golden opportunity for a discerning collector.
