Ganzhizhou Mine, Meigu County
Liangshan Yi, Sichuan
An exceptional specimen of Crystallized Gold, this stunner presented on a custom engraved acrylic base was part of the exhibition of the 'Crystalline Treasures of China' at the University of Arizona in 2013 that opened in conjunction with the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show that year. The sizable example is extremely aesthetic and weighs a robust 149 grams. From the "old" finds dating back circa 2009, this specimen was also illustrated in the "Crystalline Treasures of China" book on Page 92. This is a big and a beautiful Gold from China out of the Ganzhizhou Mine in the Sichuan Province. The fantastic representation is glorious on both sides and exhibits a rich golden-yellow coloration. The delicate nature, and inherent fragility, of the example is noteworthy as the extending phalange is notable as it adds a dramatic aesthetic to this highly visual offering. The complex form features some white Quartz and minor matrix near the base. The gorgeous shape of the natural piece is sublime to put it mildly, and this Gold has endless visual appeal. This one is large, artistic and an ideal display specimen.
