Description

Set of Aluminum Crystal Models
Lot of 64 models

This special, highly collectible lot features a complete set of 64 crystallographic models representative of every euhedral crystal form in crystallography from simpler shapes like cubes and octahedrons to more complex, even modified, morphologies. Six of the models are separated into matching, symmetrical halves, one or two of which represent twinning. Unlike the more common wooden models, these pieces are entirely shaped out of aluminum, likely originating from somewhere in the mid-western United States. Some of these models are inscribed with numbers, either from pencil markings or etchings.

There is a huge variety of models in this set: one of the more complex models is that of a trigonal trapezohedron, which can be frequently found as small faces in Quartz. Another highlight is the modified trigonal model that collectors will instantly recognize as the classic form of most tourmalines.

Ex. Charles E. Creekmur collection.

More Information: The models in this set are in excellent condition. Due to the softer nature of aluminum, there is some rounding on the edges.
