This striking free-form sculpture is carved from natural Obsidian-volcanic glass-sourced from the mineral-rich region of Jalisco, Mexico. Noted for its iridescent sheen, this variety of Obsidian contains microscopic crystal layers that formed during the slow cooling of lava. These fine inclusions refract and reflect light in a way reminiscent of opals, producing vibrant bands of color that shift and shimmer with movement. The present specimen exhibits particularly vivid play-of-color, with flowing flashes of green, gold, and violet easily visible across its polished surface. Sculpted to accentuate the natural contours and optical depth of the material, the piece serves as both a geological marvel and a captivating decorative object.
