    EXOTIC "PRINTSTONE" SCULPTURE FROM REMOTE AUSTRALIAN LOCATION
    Mount McRae Shale, Hamersley Basin, Pilbara, Western Australia

    Printstone, or "Newsprint" Jasper as it is sometimes called, is a silicated sandstone. Found near the mining town of Tom Price in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, this refreshing material gives an entirely new look to natural rock sculptures. More like a piece of contemporary artwork, this specimen from the Mount McRae Shale in the Hamersley Basin has even been theorized to have the evidence of stromatolitic origins although this is only speculation at this point. That being said, some already have given the name Kinneyia simulans to this unsubstantiated classification. This fabulous specimen exhibits an amazing swirling pattern reminiscent of some kind of a wild animal. A myriad of colors including browns, tans, creams and rusts blanket this unusual natural work of art. The freeform sculpture stands vertically on its own and measures 29.5 x 10 x 5.25 inches (74.93 x 25.4 x 13.34 cm).
