China is not normally considered to be one of the better sources for Wulfenite, the colorful Molybdate of Lead. The mineral collecting world was caught unprepared when it was announced that a unique find of bright orange-red matrix specimens had been made in a remote region of Western China. The initial locality information was vague and by the time the true location was pinned down: the occurrence had been mined out. This better than average example, shows the yellowish inclusions on some of the side faces of the Wulfenite blades that are characteristic of material from this locality. There are some minor broken crystals, but overall the condition is fine. This is a fine and large example from a short-lived locality that measures 3 ½ x 6 x 5 ½ inches; it has a custom labeled acrylic base.
