Description

Wulfenite, Mimetite
Rowley Mine, Theba, Painted Rock Mts, Maricopa Co., Arizona, USA
15.5 x 10.9 x 6.0 cm (6.1 x 4.3 x 2.4 in)

Very few specimens will compare to the sheer intensity of the Wulfenite and Mimetite crystals on this outstanding plate from the Rowley Mine. The Wulfenite presents with a neon orange hue, associated with the classic "red ball" Mimetite that Rowley Mine is famous for. These lustrous, cherry-red botryoids of Mimetite richly accent the equally-shiny Wulfenite "window panes," all of which being sharp and transparent. Every inch of the display side of the matrix is completely crystallized, a full 15 centimeters of sunset hues. It should be noted that many of the Wulfenite crystals on this plate are broken on the edges, though this is typical and expected of larger specimens from this locality. This damage, however, falls to the wayside in the context of the extremely bright color and shimmer of the overall plate. This specimen was personally collected by Keith Wentz, claim owner of the Rowley Mine.

Ex. Keith Wentz collection.
Ex. Thomas Everitt collection (#TAE-47).
