Description

    TOURMALINE with TOPAZ & QUARTZ
Paprok, Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan

This is a nicely mixed group of minerals, centered around a Tourmaline that has pale pink shading to smoky pink at termination. The Tourmaline is 3.14 x 0.59 inches (8.0 x 1.5 cm) and rises from a matrix of Smoky Quartz and Feldspar - a matrix that also hosts six plus Topaz crystals of classic form, good transparency and very pale green color. Along with the Topaz, there are four plus large Smoky Quartz crystals with glassy to frosted luster. Bladed Cleavelandite aggregates with encrusting Lepidolite fill the spaces between the above mentioned crystals. The largest Topaz is 1.45 inches (3.7 cm) across the termination, at least two others are of similar size. The condition is excellent to pristine, with only very minor flaws, chiefly on the edges of the group. There is a repair to the Tourmaline at the base.
    Overall measurements: 5.8 x 5.7 x 4.1 inches (14.8 x 14.5 x 10.5 cm)

    Estimate: $18,000 - $28,000.
