Description
Tourmaline with LepidoliteChiá mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
21 x 12 x 11 cm (8.27 x 4.72 x 4.33 in)
This piece features several well-terminated crystals of Tourmaline on a contrasting matrix of Quartz and Lepidolite. The largest of these prismatic crystals is the obvious focal point of this specimen, standing at a whopping 19.0 centimeters in height! Like this massive crystal, the rest of the Tourmaline are gemmy with a watery green-blue color that backlights nicely; at their peaks, the crystals have lighter green zoning that is capped by zones of grass-green or blue. The Tourmaline has a strong glassy luster that is accented by several vertical striations along the side faces. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
More Information: This piece is in great condition with four repairs on the main crystal and five repairs (collectively) across the smaller crystals, which is not uncommon for larger Tourmaline specimens such as this.
