This lovely little specimen perfectly demonstrates the chatoyant qualities that have made Tiger's-Eye such a popular mineral for thousands of years; indeed, Roman soldiers used to wear tiger eye into battle, believing that it provided protection from harm, and today it is used by crystal healers to relieve high blood pressure and to focus the mind. The unpolished surfaces of this specimen exhibits the characteristic blue streaks of incompletely silicified crocidolite on a golden-honey ground, but the shining polished surface gleams with gorgeous blue and gold on a beautiful natural canvas. Additionally, this specimen is from South Africa and contains noticeably more brilliance than the more common Australian specimens. A fine cabinet specimen, it measures 4 5/8 x 4 1/8 x 1½ inches.
