Spodumene var. Kunzite

At a massive near-27 centimeters in length, this single crystal of Kunzite is hefty and full-bodied, and still in great condition. The termination comes to a sharp, spade-like point, With an intricate etching texture on top that reflects light very well. The body of the crystal shimmers with longitudinal striations on the front and back, and the two side planes, in contrast, are much smoother. One of these faces, as well as the back of the termination, also features unique Quartz deposits, many of which having dark and sharp phantoms. The best part of this specimen is the extremely gemmy zone in the center of the prism: Between the elegant banded inclusions in the top and bottom is a section that is beautifully clear. This is the area where you can most easily see the pleochroism between the A and B axes, even without polarized light: The striated sides display a golden hue, while the smoother sides are bright pink-purple. This pleochroism is further pronounced in polarized light.
