Description
SphaleriteElmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA
15 x 13 x 12 cm (5.91 x 5.12 x 4.72 in)
This specimen takes the superb crystals of classic Elmwood Sphalerite and presents them across every side of a perfectly contrasting light-grey dolostone matrix covered in a cascading Dolomite druse. The Sphalerite crystals are filled with an intense brown to red hue-best seen along its gemmier edges-and a flashy resinous luster. While most of the crystals are consolidated into tight groups, each of the clusters are nicely isolated and show excellent definition on most of the individual crystals. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
More Information: This piece is in excellent condition. There are some crevices in the matrix. Luckily, they do not appear to pose any threat to the specimen's structural integrity.
