Smoky Quartz Gwindels are a remarkable variety of Quartz! Gwindel Quartz specimens grow and rotate along the a-axis, creating the signature "twisted" appearance that this habit gets its name from. This particular piece shows what appears to be a series of tabular Smoky Quartz crystals jutting outward from a Quartz that has a normal growth habit. In actuality, this "series" is one large, macromosaic crystal. As the smoky-colored Gwindels grow further from the Quartz base, they rotate clockwise-indicating this is a "right-handed" specimen. Most of the Quartz points throughout this specimen are in good condition, with only minor bruises on some tips.
