Príbram, Central Bohemia Region, Bohemia, Czech Republic

Few Silver specimens are as easily identifiable as the Silver pseudomorphs after Dyscrasite from Pribram in Czechoslovakia. Dyscrasite, for those of you who are dying for something really arcane to use in Trivial Pursuit ™, is the crystalline compound between Antimony and Silver with the fixed composition: Ag3Sb. It is not an alloy, but a true crystalline compound. In the mysterious fashion of things known only to Mother Nature, the Antimony was cleverly removed and the Silver left behind without the form of the crystals changing one bit. Quite a trick, and Man could probably not replicate it even with a fully equipped laboratory and a herd of boffins. Visual inspection of this mineralogical mystery indicates that the Silver and/or the Dyscrasite either grew within, or was infiltrated by, some off-white Calcite that has been partially dissolved away, revealing the Silver lurking underneath. The matrix appears to be some non-descript Quartz based wall rock. Condition is most excellent with little or no damage visible.
