Description
SCHORLSanta Cruz, Mun. de Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico
These stalactitic versions of Schorl have to be one of the most exotic forms taken by this Tourmaline "variety." The luster is deceptive: at most angles it surfaces of the Tourmaline appear matte black. Careful rotation of the piece causes the thousands of what appear to be separate crystals, to 'light up' in unison, which shows that all of them are simply complex faces of the same crystal. Pristine condition with no matrix and only a tiny patch of Chalcedony at one point.
Overall measurements: 4 x 2 x 1.5 inches (10.2 x 5.1 x 3.8 cm).
Provenance: Mountain Minerals [Hoppel # D1213]
