DescriptionSCHORL & QUARTZ
São José da Safira, Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil
From a one time only find made some 18 years ago, this is a striking example of just how good some Schorls can be. The pure black main crystal is 4.4 inches (11.2 cm) in length by 0.31 inches (0.8 cm) in diameter and bears beautiful striations and pyramidal terminal faces that are highlighted by its opaque nature. Accompanying it are several smaller ones of similar proportions and coloration. Given the extreme contrast between the stark white of the doubly-terminated Quartz crystal 'matrix' and the midnight black of the Tourmaline coupled with the perfection of the crystals, it is easy to see what possessed the miner to carefully remove and preserve it - it's a natural study in black and white. Condition overall is fine to excellent with some breakage to the accessory Tourmalines but not to the primary one. It comes with a custom labeled base.
Overall measurements: 2.6 x 5.0 x 1.6 inches (6.6 x 12.8 x 4 cm)
