Jersey Vein, 9 Level, Bunker Hill Mine, Bunker Hill Properties, Kellogg, Coeur d'Alene District, Shoshone Co., Idaho, USA

This large cabinet-sized matrix assemblage of Pyromorphite, with a wide range of crystal sizes, habits, and colors, dates from the big find of the mid 1980s. It is rather interesting because, on one side, the Pyromorphite appears as tiny, golden, sparkling needles less than a millimeter long - a habit that is rarely seen. Farther on, towards the center of the piece, the needles abruptly become much larger (0.25 inch or 6 mm) and the color becomes more of a yellow-green. Finally, it changes once again, this time into the rounded crystallites, showing orange coloration, on the far side of the piece. This gorgeous and sparkly specimen has had very minor "contact" at a couple of places; otherwise, it is in excellent, almost pristine, condition. The Madrid Collection label indicates that it came from the Dr. Marcus Johnston Collection.
    Overall Measurements: 5.6 x 3.1 x 2.6 inches (14.3 x 7.8 x 6.5 cm)

Provenance: Ex. Dr. Raul & Helen Madrid Collection, ex. Dr. Marcus Johnston Collection

    Estimate: $8,000 - $12,000.
