Prospect Park Quarry, Prospect Park, near Paterson, Passaic Co., New Jersey, USA

This is a very nice, large group of Prehnite "stalactites" of light green color, encrusting a darker material. It has typical, slightly sparkly, Prehnite luster. This is a fairly large specimen for this location, and the fact that it is undamaged adds considerably to its value. On the bottom there is a layer of Datolite in mostly micro crystals along with a number of notes: "collected by RAK," "Superb," "rare," also, the number "81" and "6/6/64," "night," and, lastly, "Prospect Park." All of these notations confirm that it was collected by Richard Kosnar in 1964 when he was living in New Jersey and just getting started in the mineral trade. It is in perfect condition.
    Overall measurements: 8.31 x 4 x 2.81 inches (21 cm x 10.1 x 7.1 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.

Provenance: Ex. R. A. Kosnar Collection [Hoppel #D1750]
