Description

Native Copper
Michigan Copper District, Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan

This is a fantastic display Copper specimen with serious heft, great aesthetics, and dramatic display. The crystalline Copper portion of the piece forms a crown at the top consisting of sharp crystals measuring up to 1 to 3.5 cm, some of which are slightly elongated. The rest of the piece consists of highly irregular-shaped Copper appendages that flatten, thin, and splay out in different directions for dramatic effect and great aesthetics. The piece's overall shape from a side view looks like the head of a Woolly Mammoth with its trunk raised in the air. This Copper is certainly distinctive and distinguished in its own right and is very unusual and special. This significant large cabinet piece of old Michigan Copper is complete all around. It is simply impressive to look at, and actually, it sits on its own, nice and safely as displayed. This museum-sized specimen weighs 3.08 kilograms (6.8 pounds).
