Description

    MICA
    Locality Unknown
    9.05 x 5.51 x 1.32 inches (23 x 14 x 3.36 cm)

Mica is actually the term for an important group of silicate minerals which has become so familiar with the general public that it is essentially considered a mineral itself. This large specimen, at over 9 inches (22.86 cm), is quite a spectacular piece of the relatively common variety. This example features classic, flexible and brittle sheets characteristic of the variety. This member of the "mica family" is a grayish to greenish in color with a shiny, silvery surface. The locality is unknown, but the piece is an ideal sample.
