Description

Malachite
Sepon Mine, Vilabouly District
Savannakhet Province
Laos

This unique Malachite specimen hails from exotic Laos. The intricately patterned green specimen looks more like a painting than a natural mineral specimen. This aesthetically pleasing material came out of Laos in a few small pockets over the last few years. However, immediately, the bulk of this material was acquired by the Chinese market, making it difficult to procure. A very small amount leaked out to the global market, and this fine example was one of those few. This velvety plate has no damage and is complete even around the periphery, forming somewhat of a 'floater' shard with only a few connections in the back. The undulating pattern and contour shape make this a superb specimen with decorative appeal. There are varying shades of rich green, which present with a velvety texture, and light up with nice chatoyancy when moved. Overall, this is an exceptional example of scarce gorgeous material. This fine Malachite is accompanied by a custom acrylic base.
