    LAZURITE in MATRIX
    Koksha Valley, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan

As one of the three components of the semi-precious rock: Lapis Lazuli, the mineral Lazurite is responsible for the intense blue coloration of the same. Although there are several sources worldwide for Lazurite, only the "classic" one in Afghanistan produces large, euhedral crystals of this mineral. This one is framed by the colorless, white marble in which it is embedded. Sharp and undamaged, it is 3.2 cm across. Luster is the typical matte variety displayed by crystals from this locality.
    Overall Measurements: 3.97 x 3 x 2.3 inches (10.1 x 7.64 x 5.86 cm). Crystal is 3.2 cm across.
    Offered at no reserve.

    Provenance: Attard Minerals [Hoppel #D0269]
