Description
HEMIMORPHITESanta Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico
This group of rather large Hemimorphite crystals, some up to 1.5 inches (3.7 cm) in length, shows a delightful golden orange coloration, most probably due to a small dose of Iron in circulating mine waters. It has the typical chocolate-red gossan matrix. All in all, this is a very showy and colorful piece in fine condition with some broken crystals near the base, which do not detract from the overall aesthetics. Collection notes delineated the locality as Ojuela Mine. However, examination by noted Mexican mineral expert, Dr. Peter Megaw, conclusively determined that it is from Santa Eulalia. There is an unidentified accession number on bottom ("45B"), and it comes with a custom acrylic base.
Overall Measurements: 5.11 x 3.89 x 2.52 inches (13.0 x 9.9 x 6.41 cm)
Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Keith Proctor [Hoppel #D2211]
